On September 5th, the professional judges and the audience were to select the participant of the Junior Eurovision 2010.  Out of 25 participants a Karabakh born singer Vladimir (VOVA) Arzumanyan has won Armenia’s national selection with the song “Mama”.

In 2010, Belarus was the host country of the 8th annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The Final of the Contest was on November 20. During the show, Vladimir has appeared on the stage with 5 dancers: Grigor, Gevorg, Vakhtang, Daniel and Tigran. Choreograph was Kristina Avagimyan. The entry was based on the idea of Vladimir’s street friends. The dance itself contained both powerful street & hip-hop dances and Armenian ethnic elements from medieval dances.

This year, a total of 14 countries have participated in the contest.  Each country gave their votes through a 50% jury and 50% tele-voting system. Vladimir (VOVA) Arzumanyan has won the contest with 120 points, leaving behind the Russian and Georgian delegates. He is the first Armenian singer who has won the contest. Moreover, it was also Armenian first victory in any Eurovision contest.

Excited by Vova’s victory, the Armenian delegation started discussions of hosting the next Junior Eurovision in Armenia. Soon it has been decided that Yerevan will be the capital of Junior Eurovision in 2011.
