Dalita

12-year old Dalita represented Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Contest of 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia in Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. Along with her group she performed the song “Welcome to Armenia” – greeting everyone to their home country of Armenia. Dalita had won in the national selection for Armenia that year both via televoting and jury out of all 16 songs. She was also both the writer of the lyrics and composer of the song, with the help of her teacher Emma Asatryan, instrumentation by Martin Mirzoyan and zurna (Armenian instrument) performed by Vardan Grigoryan.

The song is mainly about taking you (the audience) to Armenia and moving forward no matter what; it was about historical Armenia, its blossoming and the children of Armenia as the future of the country.
The performance of Dalita and her group was fun and entertaining. The theme of her performance was an Armenian airline/airport, and so the girls had suitcases and were wearing flight attendant uniforms with a nice creative twist while the boys were wearing uniforms of a pilot and copilots. The dancing crew incorporated some Armenian dance in their performance and some cool hip-hop moves. For her music video, Dalita and her crew created a similar atmosphere of an airport as on stage.

Dalita presented forth in the Contest and placed 5th place out of 13 countries with 85 points, following Russia and Belarus with a difference of 6 points and proceeding Moldova with 7 points.
