Emmy

In 2011 Eurovision Song Contest was held in Düsseldorf, Germany and Armenian Pop Star Emmy represented Armenia with the song “Boom Boom”. Along with her dance crew she presented an outstanding show with the use of props, dance moves, screens, lights and special effects all in the theme of boxing.
For the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest ARMTV internally selected Emmy to represent Armenia in Germany. For the 2011 Eurovision over 70 songs were sent to Emmy, and from those the jury picked a final four: “Hi”, ”Boom Boom”, “Ayo” and “Good-bye” and “Boom boom” was chosen as the winning song, with the song “Ayo” in second place. The song “Boom Boom” was written by the members of the band Apricota, Hayk Harutyunyan and Hayk Hovhannisyan, with lyrics by Sosi Khanikyan.
Love-themed song “Boom Boom’s” music video presents a story of a couple: a girl loves a boy, but he’s always busy with his sports, and nothing interests him besides boxing. The girl doesn’t like what’s going on, and calls him out to the ring of love, where they battle.  The music video was filmed mostly in Germany with the main role played by the world-known Armenian professional boxer from Germany- Arthur Abraham.
Emmy presented an outstanding show on the stage. The dancers created a boxing ring representing the fight for love. There was a huge boxing glove from where Emmy started the song and with the combination of their wardrobe and dances, “Boom, boom” became a showstopper. The dancers were from Greece performing mix of contemporary and Armenian dances with Emmy. Her performance at Düsseldorf Emmy dedicated to her father – famous Armenian sculptor, David Bejanyan’s remembrance.
Emmy competed forth in the first semi-final on the 10th of May and came in 12th place with 54 points with only 1 point behind 10th place (last to qualify) Switzerland. The 2011 Song contest’s winner was Azerbaijan performing “Running Scared”.
Although Armenia didn’t move on to the final round, it presented an unforgettable performance and Emmy’s song, performance and music video wowed many.
