Genealogy

Based on the decision by the creative team of  Public TV Company of Armenia, Armenia presented a new format with a newly formed group. The group Genealogy has been created with 6 artists of Armenian origin representing 5 continents of the world and Armenia (Essai Altounian – Europe, Tamar Kaprelian – America, Vahe Tilbian – Africa, Mary-Jean O’Doherty Vasmatzian – Australia, Stephanie Topalian – Asia, and Inga Arshakyan - Armenia)
Armenia participated with the song “Face the Shadow”: composer – Armen Martirosyan, lyrics – Inna Mkrtchyan.
The song “Face the Shadow” is about universal values; about love, peace unity and of course, genealogy of generations and genetics. With this song Genealogy reminded the world that happiness is born when people live in harmony with themselves and their feelings. Most importantly, the creation of the group and music video showed that even though generations are shifting with time, genealogy still remains: the values of love and peace are stable.
“Face the Shadow” was a universal song and it seemed like it is a part of a musical which combines peculiarities of all 6 different artists - vocal, style and timbre.
Genealogy’s music video director was Aren Bayadyan.  The concept of the video iwas the idea of genealogy: the captured family is considered as the symbol of humanity: the base is the shift of generations and the phenomena that the new generation is always replacing the previous one carrying out the traditions and values in them.
As a connecting dot the Armenian manuscript ornamentation embroidery process was captured by the creative team. The bird, symbolizing peace, freedom and good news carries a branch of the tree that blends with the idea of spreading peace and art, unity of nations with idea of fostering them in the world.
