The countdown has begun. 30 days left until Junior Eurovision 2022!

Maléna, who successfully brought Eurovision to Armenia, set off the countdown for the Junior Eurovision contest in the heart of Yerevan together with Nare, Armenia’s representative in this year’s context.

Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan thanked Malena for bringing the pan-European contest to Armenia. “Millions of people will be watching the contest from all over the world. This is truly a day of celebration in Yerevan. The Municipality is making special arrangements for the contest and preparing light decorations in the city. This year the honor of turning on the lights of the Republic Square Christmas Tree will be given to the JESC’s fellow contestants”.

Executive Director of the First Channel, Hovhannes Martirosyan, says a lot of work has been carried out to make sure the contestants participate in the celebration. “I remember how we prepared to celebrate the contest last year, prior to Junior Eurovision 2021. We did our best to ensure a remarkable performance and victory for Malena. It happened exactly as planned: we spun the magic, and JESC is now in Armenia. The whole city will be experiencing the magic of Eurovision for an entire month. The active stage of the contest has already kicked off, tickets are soon to be sold. We thank the government for supporting the Municipality and all their partners”, he adds.

The event hosted Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan, diplomatic representatives of the participant countries, partners of the contest, and Eurovision fans.

Representatives of 16 countries will take part in the 20th Junior Eurovision, united under the promising slogan “Spin the Magic”. This year’s symbol is a colorful spinning top.

The participant countries are: Albania, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Poland, Armenia, North Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Georgia and France.

The long-awaited event of the year will take place on December 11th, 19:00, at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex.

Over the month, the First Channel will be organizing various events to ensure a festive mood for citizens of Armenia and tourists from around the word. On December 5th, participants will switch on the lights of the Christmas Tree at the Republic Square.
