Moldavian promo tour started from Armenia, when Zdob si Zdub(Roman Yagubov, Svyatoslav Starush) came to Yerevan with their Eurovision song “So Lucky”. They were invited to the most popular TV show on First channel “Erg Ergots” and represented 2 of their songs. Interview in “Radio Van” morning show, Kamo Tovmasyan’s TV show on Dar 21, OGAE and the press conference in ORANGE office with all the Armenian entertainment media were success.
“Yesterday for the first time we visited Armenia and had a walk in the city of red stones. In Kishinyov we attended Jivan Gasparyan’s concert where we have met Armenian diasporas. I have read about Armenian history and I think that there are some common features in Moldavian and Armenian histories. And of course, I would like to emphasize Armenian kitchen”, mentioned Roman.
The boy band consists of 6 musicians and the name of the group is similar to the sound and temp of Moldavian dobay, which is their drum. Zdob si Zdub which exists for already 15 years has participated in Eurovision 2005 taking the 6-th place. Already having some experience they will try to be more organized, to improve their show and their performance, besides they are going to release a new CD in Germany, which will also have some influence on the audience.
It wasn’t easy for them to win the National selections in Chisinau, because their song and their style were unfamiliar to Moldavians. They are more known as folklore artists. This time the changes were great, but in the end they added some folk elements in their song and their performance will be more complete with the help of their national hats which are called kushma which were made in France style special for Zdob si Zdub.
“Our song “So Lucky” was written under the impressions of the fairy tale “The King Frog” by Brothers Grim. The song is about a glamorous guy who buys everything and everyone. But one day he meets a girl who makes him to change his lifestyle.” says Roman and adds that the luck of the song mainly depends on good promo-tour and video.
The boys wished high points and good performance to our representative Emmy. However, they think that it’s not necessary to be obsessed with high positions but the most important thing is to concentrate on the good performance and good voice. Roman thinks that Armenia has good chances to win in Eurovision, because was always represented as proper.
