The election of the song for Eurovision 2011 will be held on March 5. Apricota band also takes part in this event. Their song is called “Boom Boom”. Composers of  the song are Hayk Harutyunyan and Hayk Hovhannisyan, the author of the lyrics is Sosi Khanikyan.

What is the  specific flavor of  your song?

Hayk, Sosi, Hayk – The song is very cheerful and dancy, and the peculiarities are in the lyrics.There is  something in the song that is very modern in nowdays music.The old Disco music with modern elements. The song will differ from the others with very little ethno colorings. It’s also important that today the retro style is very trendy, and although the song is not fully in this style, it can be considered a mix. Let’s not talk about the advantages of the song now, but one thing is for sure, it’ll be different from the other songs. The rest depends on the selection. 

So there are going to be very little ethno elements. Why?

Hayk, Sosi, Hayk  - The ethno elements will surely be present, but they won’t be overwhelming. Actually, Europe is already tired of too stressed ethno elements. Besides, the song format doesn’t suppose ethnic elements as well. They will only add some spice to the song, and the latter will build itself around the elements.  The song is simple and accessible, we tried hard to make it give energy even to a first-time listener. 

As you’re the author of the song, do you have any kind of ideas about the show or the costumes?

Hayk, Sosi, Hayk – We can think about it only after a victory. But, of course, we had some ideas throughout the period of composing the song. Anyone, who’ll hear the song, will understand that it’s a very positive and cheerful song, which carries a good mood. In general, it’s essential to concentrate on positive songs, as they always win.

What place do you think will Armenia take in Eurovision, if your song wins?

Hayk, Sosi, Hayk – Every year specialists make predictions concerning the winning style, and this year, according to the initial information, a more rhythmic song will be the winner. We believe that we’ll be in the top three, as Emmy has the potential for it. It’s a mix of the show and the song, both are important. Of course, it’s ultimately a song contest, but there should also be a well-organized show along with the song. A lot depends on the artist. 

Have you heard the other three songs, and what do you think about them?

Hayk, Sosi, Hayk – Yes, but only the demo versions. Each one is good in its own way, however, we still encourage to vote for our song :)
